Chuck Mangione Feels So Good From 1978
Flash back to 1978 when all you city folks were walking down the street in corduroy jeans, multi colored, butter fly collar shirts, by pay phones that used to only cost a dime. When you get back to your car, which you have to manually unlock and open, you turn over the key.
The radio comes on before the engine starts and
Chuck Mangione's "Feels So Good" is already playing. That was 32 years ago...

Lightnin' Hopkins On Youtube
Born in Centerville, Texas, Hopkins' childhood was immersed in the sounds of the blues and he developed a deeper appreciation at the age of 8 when he met Blind Lemon Jefferson at a church picnic in Buffalo, Texas. That day, Hopkins felt the blues was "in him" and went on to learn from his older (somewhat distant) cousin, country blues singer Alger "Texas" Alexander...(more from Wiki article)

Domestic Violence Is The Cornerstone Of The Blues
"The issue of domestic violence is to be added to the school timetable in England. But head teachers say schools are being asked to solve all of society's problems..."
(continue BBC article)
They could pay them teachers extra, for starters...
Hmmm...that is an important issue to be thinking about during the holidays. Maybe here in America we can look across the pond and realize what we need to be aware of. Especially during the holiday seasons when people are already stressed out.
Speaking of stressed out, you should hear this man wailin' away. It might be better to sing the blues than to wind up a domestic violence criminal. Lord knows that much is true.
Y'all hang in there this holiday season, ya hear?!
Ok?
Alrighty then...here is some Joe McCoy for ya...

Ricky Martin For The Children Of Puerto Rico
Latin superstar Ricky Martin is teaming up with a German broadcaster to build a youth center for children in his native Puerto Rico.
"The idea is to build a center, a safe haven for children that are at risk of exploitation, which is the main mission of my foundation." said Ricky Martin.

There's No Sheriff In Netsville: Love Vs Fashion On Twitter
Hello everybody! How are you today? That good?
Heh heh heh...
Well, apparently...some folks don't feel that way. Some folks like to feel bad and then post their feelings on the internet. They often share their bad thoughts about other people. The problem is that, sometimes, those people sue the pants of that first person for slander! And then some lawyer makes a million dollars!

Pirate Radio To Rescue Us From Hi Tech Music?
Hey everybody? How are you doing today? Good? Have you heard about Pirate Radio? I'm talking about the new movie.
Speaking of music...
The radio stations these days play a lot of computerized music. All that kind of music is music that didn't have to be learned by anyone. It plays on command. At the press of a button. It's more art than music, these days. And constantly on display. And the young DJ's who do this kind of artful expression have made a huge money market for themselves. Good for them. Mean while...I hear the youngsters are starting to crave real music again. And when that starts to kick in to gear...oh what a wonderful world it will be...again!

Lakers Great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Has Leukemia
Say it aint so! Not Kareem! Do you remember this great basketball player? Here's a refresher from Wikipedia:
"Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is an American retired basketball player. During his 20-year professional career in the NBA, from 1969 to 1989, he scored the highest points total of any player in league history (38,387), in addition to winning a record six Most Valuable Player Awards and six NBA championships." (More from Wiki)
The "skyhook" was his famous shot. At 7 ft 2inches tall, he could almost drop the ball into the hoop over his opponents. I hope his doctors don't drop the ball on him.
Good luck Kareem!
And speaking of "hooks" here's one from Russia With Love

I figure since it's the rainy season I'd bring up blues guitar legend Muddy Waters. Why? Oh, I'm sure there are plenty of reasons. But one good reason to bring up this particular artist...his music.
Yeah, he sure got his name around. Almost everybody knows his name.

These poor folks were abducted by Somalian pirates! Oh no...say it aint so. The ocean should be a tranquil place. If you are out to sea on a boat, it should be enjoyable. But not for this couple. They were interviewed about the ordeal.

Conan O' Brien And Corey Booker: A Couple Of Jive Turkeys
Conan O'Brien and Newark Mayor Cory Booker turned their frivolous feud about the gritty city into comedy on NBC's "Tonight Show" on Friday...(read story)
Well, that's how it's suppose to be done. When two grown men start in on one another, the best thing they can do is go on national television and make it into a joke. No need to really bother each other. Especially when you can make people laugh about it. Laughter is the key to comedy, by the way.
Hey, you know Thanksgiving is coming, right? I figure, while on the topic of a couple of Jive Turkeys...I'd throw this one at ya!

Paul Anka Credited for New Michael Jackson Single
Hey y'all...howz it goin' out there? That good? Really?

Guess what? I just saw Michael Jackson! Yeah! He was signin' autographs down the way about an hour ago. He was surrounded by a bunch of Native American Indians. They were askin' him about the song 'Beat It' and how they wished they had that song to play to the settlers...heh heh heh...
But seriously...you heard that new song he got? Me neither, but you can read about it...
Here is a little bit about it:
"With a familiar high-pitched voice counting off one-two-three-four, a new Michael Jackson single debuted online Monday, prompting a hasty response from the singer's estate after Paul Anka revealed he was the song's co-writer...." (Keep Reading Article?)

Pete Seeger Is Still Goin' Strong
"On the other hand, I've tried to stay in good health. I learned an Arab proverb when I was in Lebanon once. Arabs are proud that the whole world uses Arabic numerals. We don't use Roman numerals, or Chinese numerals. We use Arabic numerals. If you have good health, put down a number one. If you have a family, put down a zero. How lucky you are. If you have land, put down another zero. Family, land - what more could you want? Well, if you've got a good reputation, put down another zero. You got it all. But take away the one, what have you got? Three zeroes. Good story for people to know. I tell it everywhere...." (read article)
That's a 90 year old Pete Seeger talkin'! He's 90 years old! And still making as much sense as the music he makes. And he makes a WHOLE LOTTA MUSIC! And it's true, too...music keeps you young at heart. And that keeps him goin' strong...

Then Is The News Shinola?
Shotgun-wielding man Tasered after manure dispute
Police said a dispute over manure led to a man firing his shotgun near his neighbors and police later using a Taser to subdue him. The Saginaw News reported the man approached his neighbors in Huron County's Huron Township, about 110 miles north of Detroit, Saturday as they spread lime and manure on their farm. (article from sf gate)Sometimes you have to hand it to the news for finding stories like this. Because, it is more than obvious that during the middle of the night when we are all asleep, a hand full of adults agree that, yes, the story should be out there for all to see. Print it! Kanye West Needs To Be Kind
Hey everybody, how are you fine people doin' today?
THAT good? Well don't get too excited now. It's only Monday. And don't let the Blues get a hold of you too quick now. Ya have to get somethin' good in your mind to get through a day, sometimes. Ask Taylor swift. That 19 year old singer who won an award, only to find her self on stage with Kanye West tellin' her it should a been somebody else. You hear about that? Sounds to me like Kanye West was countin' eggs with out a basket.
And what was he thinkin' when he went to the barber shop? Maybe the barber should write something good to say on his head...

Super Fan in 2009 Is Right On Time!
Well HELLO world! Just got back from a loooooong trip. I had to go on virtual tour. You know how it is with musicians. When fans call you from across the galaxy, you gotta go play for them! And that's what I love to do. I do enjoy all the smiling faces in a crowd. To know that there is music attached to those smiles just brings my heart up to a high C sharp! Fans keep music alive, ya know? And there is some gossip travelin' around Netsville about a particular fan. So I checked it out myself. And you should have seen the smile on my face.
She goes by the name of Super Fan 2009. Maybe it means something. I'm not too sure. But what I do know is that I spent an entire afternoon downloading free mp3's from her many lists of tunes. All kinds of tunes. Genres galore. And you know what? She even has a little Jazz page, bless her little heart!
Well...go ahead...take a look at her Jazz Page.
Aint that sweet?!
What a wonderful world it is today...
